Yates Industries was founded in 1972 by William H Yates II, as a fluid power distributor and repair facility.  His son Bill Yates is now CEO of the company.

In 1975 the Yates Cylinder Division was created to provide heavy duty NFPA cylinders. By the late 70’s they had expanded their line to include medium duty hydraulic, and pneumatic cylinders. By the mid-80’s they had added the machinery and equipment to expand their product line to include Mill Style and large bore special cylinders.  The Yates A2 Series aluminum NFPA cylinder line was added in the early 90’s.  Their reputation for quality and service was built in N. Michigan automotive and steel industries.

In 1998 they relocated to their existing 100,000 sq. ft. facility in Michigan, and in January 2007 they added their new plant in Decatur, AL.  Yates is ISO 9001:2000 Certified.  Yates has one of the best warranty policies in the industry; three years on standard NFPA mounting styles, one year on custom and specials, and six months on repaired cylinders

Their recent product additions include the YS Line of round body welded cylinders, and the YRL Series of static rod locks.

Yates has a new master catalog and web-site, which includes an on-line “configurator” which will create a Yates part number from a description, and also provides 2D and 3D drawings!
